International Workshop on Chaos-Fractals Theories and Applications 2009
Shenyang, a Chinese city full of culture and history, was the venue for the Second International Workshop on Chaos-Fractals Theories and Applications, which was successfully held in November 6-8, 2009. The workshop was hosted and organized by Northeastern University, China, co-organized by City University of Hong Kong, and technically sponsored by the Technical Committee on Nonlinear Circuits and Systems of the IEEE CAS Society.
The workshop attracted about 100 participants who presented their latest research works in the theories of chaos and fractals and related applications. The Workshop Chairmen, Prof. Zhiliang Zhu of Northeastern University and Prof. Ron Chen of City University of Hong Kong, and the very able organizing team (including Chao Teng, Ruiping Wang, Hai Yu, Chong Fu, Dancheng Li, Guangming Yang and Huaiyu Xu, all from Northeastern University), had put together a rich technical program as well as a series of social events that provided networking opportunities for the participants.
The technical program included three plenary talks on the topics of fractals, cellular automata, and chaos-based cryptography, delivered by Prof. Min Wu (South China University of Technology), Prof. Fangyue Chen (Hangzhou Normal University), and Prof. Kwok-Wo Wong (City University of Hong Kong), respectively. A number of parallel oral sessions and poster sessions provided the main exchange forum for participants to present and discuss the latest research findings. The workshop ended with a tour of the Software College of Northeastern University, China.
The next workshop will be in Kunming, China! Stay tuned for further news!
