IEEE CASS Outreach Initiative 2014
The second call of the CASS Outreach Initiative 2014 has now closed and all proposals have now been evaluated and ranked by the CASS Finance BoG division. We received 30 proposals all of extremely high quality from individual CASS members, Chapters from almost all regions and Technical Committees. All proposals were read and evaluated by each of the BoG Finance Division member and then ranked. Unfortunately limited funding was available so we were able to fund the 15 proposals listed below.

I would like to thank all members of the BoG Finance Division, our operation manager Erin Bise and our webmaster Robyn Pearson for their help and support during the entire process.
The first Call for Proposals for events to be held as part of the Outreach Initiative in 2015 will be opening in early September. Please check the financial activities section of the CASS website at:

Call for Officer Nominations
Each year, the members of the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society (CASS) elect several members of the Executive Committee to serve the Society starting at the beginning of the following year. This year, we are electing members for the following officer positions. The persons elected to these positions will serve the Society for the 2015-2016 term:
Vice President Financial Activities
Vice President Publication Activities
Descriptions of the duties of these officers and eligibility criteria can be found in the CASS Constitution and Bylaws on the CASS web page: http://ieee-cas.org/about/governing-documents.
CASS is a volunteer-based organization. It is essential that we elect energetic and engaged leaders who will organize activities that will meet your needs and who will guide our Society into the future. As a CASS member, you are in an excellent position to know the strengths of your fellow members and how they can best serve our Society. Complete candidate nominations must be received by close of business (5:00 pm EDT) on September 15, 2014 in order to be considered.
Nomination Process
The slate is determined by the Nominations Committee, which may place nominated candidates on the ballot at its discretion.
A candidate has the option to be nominated by petition. According to IEEE rules, a candidate with a valid nomination by petition is guaranteed to be on the ballot. In this case, 194 signatures would be needed on the petition.
Note: Signatures from student members and affiliate members are not allowed. Graduate student members are eligible to sign a petition as well as vote in the election.
If a candidate requests to be nominated by petition, an address pointing to a web-based petitioning system that will automatically authenticate petition "signatures", will be placed on the CASS home page.
Nominators should indicate if the name of the nominated candidate is to be placed on the petition site for collecting petitions or if the nomination is meant for consideration by the Nominations Committee. Please note that the option of nomination by petition is not advised by the Nominations Committee, unless a candidate is not eligible for election, the
Nominations Committee will place all nominated candidates on the slate.

The Nominations Committee greatly encourages you to recommend suitable candidates for these elections.
