CASS R10 Networking Visit: Malaysia Chapter visit to Shizuoka University and Toyohashi University of Technology, Japan

This year (2017), IEEE CAS Malaysia Chapter has been awarded USD2000 from the IEEE CASS Region 10 Outreach Fund to promote IEEE Circuits and Systems. CAS Malaysia’s proposal was to promote CASS for the establishment of a new Nagoya CASS chapter and research collaborations between universities. On 27th November 2017, Prof. Dr. Shoji Kawahito from Shizuoka University in Hamamatsu hosted this visit where meeting and presentations from CASS Malaysia were set with his team from Imaging Devices Laboratory. During the meeting, CASS Malaysia’s chair, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suhaidi Shafie promoted IEEE CASS Society and CASS Malaysia’s activities in 2017. He also presented his current research project on SAR Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC).  Then, his student, Mr. Wang Chee Yew presented his research project on ‘Design of Timing Generator for High Clarity CMOS Image Sensor’.  The next day on 28th November 2017, CASS Malaysia delegates went to Toyohashi University of Technology (TUT) to meet Prof. Dr. Kazuaki Sawada from Integrated Bio and MEMS group, Prof. Dr. Hironaga Uchida from Spintronics group, Prof. Dr. Naohiro Hozumi from High Voltage Instrumentation and Measurement Lab and lastly Prof. Atsunori Matsuda from Electronic Material Lab. During meetings, discussion includes sharing current research works, possible research collaborations, visit to TUT various labs and facilities and finally research presentation by CASS Malaysia, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Asrulnizam Abd Manaf on his research work, Lab on Chip for Heavy Metal Sensor. CASS Malaysia delegates were also promoted IEEE CAS society to all professors in TUT during the meetings.  Few photos have been taken during the visit to Shizuoka University and Toyohashi University of Technology as below.
