First Call for Proposals of the CAS Emerging and Selected Topics for Industry Forums (CASIF) 2023

We are happy to announce the first Call for Proposals of the CAS Emerging and Selected Topics for Industry Forums (CASIF) 2023!

The CAS Society is continuing its CASIF program on emerging and cross-discipline topics, where industrial speakers describe real-world challenges and academic speakers describe potential technologies that could address those challenges. For example, in past years, Alibaba, IBM, and Intel have co-sponsored forums on AI.

We are calling for proposals from CASS local chapters and companies to co-host a half-day or one-day forum with invited speakers (may include CASS Distinguished Lecturers, international/local industry/academic speakers). The goals of these Industry Forums are to increase the interaction between academia and industry and demonstrate CASS technical leadership.

CASS will provide funding support for up to 50% of the expenses for each selected Industry Forum depending on the funding availability. (Some industry support can be in-kind contributions, e.g., venue, logistic.)

The timelines for this call are as follows:

  • Deadline of Proposal Submission: 15 January 2023
  • Announcement of Results: 1 February 2023

Please note that all forums must be held before 15 December 2023 and awarded funding cannot be transferred to the next year.

You may submit proposals online here.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need any further information or detail.

CASS takes the IEEE WIE Pledge

The
IEEE Circuits and Systems Society (CASS) is proud to officially sustain the Women in Engineering (WIE) Pledge initiative. The CAS Society will maintain the promotion of female scientists and engineers by encouraging their involvement in CASS conferences and events, publications, technical and membership activities, and committees.

The WIE Pledge initiative was launched in April 2021 and aims to work towards gender-diversified panels at all IEEE meetings, conferences, and events. For more information, please visit the IEEE WIE Pledge website

"In a scientific society like IEEE CASS, whose mission is the advancement of knowledge for the benefit of humanity, there can be no discrimination of any kind, on the contrary, all members must have the same rights to participate, contribute, serve, and be recognized by the community" said Manuel Delgado-Restituto, the 2022-2023 IEEE CASS President, who continued "IEEE CASS is proud to accept and actively contribute to the WIE's pledge, with the implementation of strategies towards a diversified gender composition in all the forums (not only technical but also management) established in our Society".

Many thanks to Yoko Uwate (WiCAS chair) and Giulia Di Capua (CASS WiE Representative), who helped to take the WIE Pledge for CASS.
