CAS SOCIETY AWARDS
CASS Awards 2007
Every year the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society (CAS) recognizes individuals who have paid outstanding contributions to the technical fields covered by the Society. One way we recognize our deserving members is by elevating them to IEEE Fellowship. We also select deserving individuals for each of the six CAS Awards that are handed out annually (and one Award biannually).
In addition, CAS presents Best Paper Awards annually to authors of selected best papers published in the Society’s journals in one of the two preceding years. All are selected by a dedicated committee after a call for nominations which is open to the entire membership.
The following are the recipients of the 2007 CAS Awards:

For pioneering contributions to the development of EDA tools for synthesis of analog/mixed-signal integrated circuits and to their dissemination into widespread use in semiconductor industry by industrial cooperation and by starting up a CAD company.

Georges G. E. Gielen
For outstanding contributions to and guidance of the Circuits and Systems Society through society and chapter leadership, conference chairmanship and the initiation of new activities in the biocas area.
IEEE Circuits and Systems Society – 2007 Vitold Belevitch Award
Leon O. Chua
For seminal contributions to nonlinear circuit theory, the first mathematically proven physical implementation of Chaos (Chua circuit), the local activity principle as the root of complexity, the cellular neural/nonlinear network principle and basic theory, and the qualitative theory of complexity in 1D cellular automata.
