Rajiv Joshi, Member of CASS Board of Governors, won the 2018 IEEE Daniel E. Noble Award for Emerging Technologies

Our sincerest congratulations to Rajiv Joshi, member of the CASS Board of Governors, for winning the 2018 IEEE Daniel E. Noble Award for Emerging Technologies.

Dr. Joshi won the award “For contributions to predictive failure analytics, VLSI memory design, and chip interconnect technology.”

His work focuses on the development of integrated circuits and memory chips. He is an IEEE Fellow and received the Industrial Pioneer Award from the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society in 2013.

Call for Nominations for EiC for Journals of IEEE CASS (Term 2018-2019)

The IEEE Circuits and Systems Society invites nominations for the position of Editor-in-Chief (EiC) of each of the following transactions and the magazines:

  • IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems I, Regular Papers
  • IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems II, Express Briefs
  • IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology
  • IEEE Journal on Emerging and Selected Topics in Circuits and Systems
  • IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Circuits and Systems
  • IEEE Circuits and Systems Magazine

The term of duty for all the positions begins on January 1, 2018, and ends December 31, 2019. For all positions, a period of three and a half months prior to the beginning of the term (i.e., starting around September 15, 2017) will be spent to enable a smooth transition of the EiC duties.

A Selection Committee, appointed by the CAS President, will evaluate all the received nominations and will select the EiCs, except for Transactions on Biomedical Circuits and Systems (TBioCAS), which will be evaluated by the TBioCAS Steering Committee. After the EiCs are chosen, the Selection Committee will identify the corresponding Deputy EiCs, in agreement with the newly appointed EiCs. The EiCs will form their own Editorial Boards, which are composed of Associate Editors. Details about the publications for which EiC nominations are sought can be found on the publication pages.

Nominations should be sent electronically by August 15, 2017, by filling out the nomination form in order to be considered. The Selection Committee will conclude its duties, and the EiCs will be nominated by the President of the Circuits and Systems Society, by September 15, 2017.

Self-nominations are not discouraged if the nominee is a member in good standing of the IEEE and of the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society. Desirable qualities of the candidates include: established, excellent records of publications in circuits and systems; unquestionable leadership, integrity, and ethical standards; demonstrable organizational and management skills; prior experience as an Editorial Board member; and finally, an energetic eagerness to continue moving the journals forward toward visibly higher levels of accomplishment and contributions to the relevant technical community. Information on IEEE policies and guidelines regarding EIC responsibilities and duties can be found in Section 2.4 of IEEE Publication Services and Products Board Operations Manual (2017).
