Inviting a Distinguished Lecturer
A request for sponsorship of a lecture by one of the CASS Distinguished Lecturers must be made by a local sponsoring organization with direct involvement and approval of the corresponding CASS Chapter Chair. Chapters are strongly encouraged to make use of the CASS DLP to enhance their member benefits. Although lectures are mainly organized to benefit existing members and Chapters, they can also be effective in generating membership and encouraging new chapter formation. Call for Board of Governors Nominations (2025-2027 Term)
Each year, the members of the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society (CASS) elect new Governors to serve the Society starting at the beginning of the following year. I am calling on you now to nominate candidates for this year’s Board of Governors (BoG) elections.
CASS is a professional volunteer-based organization. It is essential that we elect energetic and engaged leaders who will organize activities to meet the needs of the entire Circuits and Systems community and who will guide our Society into the future. As a CASS member, you are in an excellent position to know the strengths of your fellow members and how they can best serve our community.
As you consider potential nominees, please take into account that CASS wishes to promote diversity in every possible dimension. As such, CASS would appreciate nominations that complete the current composition of BoG with respect to, to name a few, technical, gender, and geographic diversity.
Board of Governors
Five members of the CAS Society will be elected this year by the Society membership at large to serve a three-year term on the Board of Governors.
We are seeking nominations for the following:
- Five Member-at-Large positions

The Board of Governors represents the members of the Society and approves the Society’s annual budget, and amendments to the Constitution and Bylaws, elects Society Officers, and authorizes the expenditure of Society funds. Members of the Board of Governors are expected to attend two annual meetings, one in the first half of the year and one in the second half of the year. Eligibility criteria stated in the CAS Society Bylaws at Article IV, Section 4.5, are: Candidates for Officer or Member of the Board of Governors must be members of the CASS Society in good standing for the two years immediately preceding their candidacy and meet all other requirements of the Constitution and the Bylaws.
Complete Board of Governors' nominations must be received using the process described at the end of the page by 5:00 PM EDT (UTC -4:00) on 3 June 2024, in order to be considered.
Nomination Process
There are two options for adding nominees to the election slate. Nominators should indicate which of the following two options they prefer.
- The first option is to nominate by petition. The IEEE rule regarding the nomination petition process states: “For all positions where the electorate is less than 30,000 voting members, signatures shall be required from 2% of the eligible voters.” The number of signatures required on a petition shall depend on the number of eligible voters, as listed in the official IEEE membership records, at the end of the year preceding the election.” For CASS in this nomination cycle, this implies that we need 283 signatures on a petition for a nominee to be automatically placed on the election ballot. The CASS Operations Manager will then set up a web-based petitioning system that will automatically authenticate petition “signatures”. According to IEEE rules, a candidate with a valid nomination by petition is guaranteed to be on the ballot. Please note that only signatures received by close of business on 3 June 2024 at 5:00 PM EDT (UTC -4:00), will be considered. Sign any active petition electronically at www.ieee.org/petition. Please use your IEEE Account to authenticate access.
- The second option involves forwarding the nomination to the Nominations Committee, which may also place candidates on the ballot at its discretion.
Nomination Documents
A complete nomination must include:
- A completed Nomination Form is required.
- Candidate Position Statement:
- The position statement should state their plans and how they will help support the society if elected to 150-200 words.
- In addition, the position statement should include answers to the following three questions. (Each answer is limited to 100 words)
- What are, in your opinion, the three most important services that CASS should provide to its membership?
- Mention one large long-term initiative that CASS should undertake in the next two years and that you would help to establish if elected.
- Mention three ways for CASS to reach/serve a specific part of the CASS community that you consider of particular importance (Industry, Academia, young CASS members, members of a specific region, ..)
- Candidate Biography:
- The biography should include topics demonstrating the nominee's experience relevant to the position, specifically emphasizing society and/or IEEE activities/responsibilities to be no more than 350 words.
- An electronic Candidate Photograph - taken within the last two years (optional)
Nomination Submission
The nomination form, biography, candidate position statement, and photo must be submitted through the CASS website by 3 June 2024 at 5:00 PM EDT (UTC -4:00).
The Nominating Committee strongly encourages you to recommend suitable candidates for this election. Our strength as a society lies not only in our engineering skill, but also in the commitment to serving our scientific community as a volunteer.
Electioneering Policies
To ensure all activities comply with IEEE policies, please review the IEEE Policies, Sections 13, 14, and 9.28. Each candidate should confirm that they agree to adhere to the IEEE Policies and guidelines. Global Celebration Chapter Event Contest
The 75th Anniversary Global Celebration Chapter Event Competition will begin with CASS Month, beginning on 5 April 2024 and ending on 10 May 2024. The main celebration will be held on Tuesday, 21 May at ISCAS 2024.
Submit any events featuring the CASS 75th Celebrations that your chapter is hosting between 5 April and 10 May to the 75th Anniversary Global Celebration Chapter Event Contest!
If you would like your event to be considered for the 75th Anniversary Event contest, you must submit a post-event report by 10 May 2024.
- Global Celebration: 5 April - 10 May (CASS Month)
- Main Celebration: 21 May at ISCAS 2024 in Singapore (Winners Announced)
We encourage you to submit events for the entire year, however, events held between 5 April and 10 May will be included in the Global Celebration Chapter Event Competition. *Student Branch Chapters are included in this contest.
If you wish to include your event in the contest, you will be asked to submit a video, photos, and post-event report. Please be sure to take photos/videos and feature your CASS 75th Celebration.
You must submit your post-event report by 10 May 2024 to be included in the contest.
If your event falls between 14 April – 20 April 2024, we encourage you to submit it to IEEE Education Week as well.

CASS Goes to Universities — Now Open to Region 7
*Note: The eligibility for the CASS Goes to University program has been revised. Now we no longer require the professor to be a CASS member for three years before the event. The presenting professor should have been in a faculty position for at least three consecutive years before the event. Non-tenure-track professors are also eligible.
CASS Goes to University is a new initiative of the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society (CASS). It supports outreach events in which professors present a technical CAS-related talk of their choice, information about CASS, and the benefits and resources that CASS can bring to the students in their own universities (a slide deck about CASS will be provided). The goal is to raise awareness of CASS among the students interested in circuit and system design and inform them about the opportunities that CASS offers for their professional development: educational material, networking activities, conference participation, travel scholarships, and much more. Minority students, including women, African American, Hispanic, and others, are particularly encouraged to participate.
This initiative will provide the following for each event:
- A one-year IEEE and IEEE CASS Membership for the professor who makes the presentation to the students in his/her own university.
- Up to 10 IEEE and IEEE CASS Student Memberships for one year for participating students.
- These student memberships may be given as lottery prizes for the event to encourage student participation
- Snack food, such as pizza and soda, for the event through reimbursement.
*For individuals who haven't renewed yet, free memberships will start in 2024 for the 2024 membership year. However, anyone who has already renewed their memberships for the 2024 membership year will be added to a promotion for the 2025 membership year (starting 16 August 2024).
This call considers proposals from Region 1 (Northeastern US), Region 2 (Eastern US), Region 3 (Southern US), Region 4 (Central US), Region 5 (Southwestern US), Region 6 (Western US), and Region 7 (Canada).

Eligibility:
The presenting professor should have been in a faculty position for at least three consecutive years before the event. Non-tenure-track professors are also eligible. The students eligible for participating in the event are i) undergraduate students close to graduation; ii) graduated students pursuing their MS or Ph.D. degree.
Proposals from other IEEE regions will be considered through the following calls as tentatively scheduled below:
Regions 1-7 1st half 2024 (Active)
Region 8 (Western Europe) 2nd half 2024
Region 8 (Others) and Region 9 1st half 2025
Region 10 (Northern countries) 2nd half 2025
Region 10 (Southern countries) 1st half 2026
*Proposals will be evaluated on a first-come, first-served basis and approved until the budget is exhausted. Each proposal must be submitted 5 days prior to the event to ensure sufficient time for evaluation.
