CASSW 2020, Porto Alegre, Brazil (November 10-13, 2020)

The 10th IEEE Circuits and Systems Workshop was planned to take place in Porto Alegre on November 10-13, 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Workshop is going to be fully virtual this year through the IEEE CASS Rio Grande do Sul Chapter YouTube channel . It is an event intended for academic and industrial exchange between local and foreign researchers. The speakers are renowned researchers from institutions with significant work in the field of circuits and systems. The event will last for four days and the programming will consist of a series of invited talks and poster sessions. IEEE CASS Seasonal School on Technology and Agribusiness – How Technology is Impacting Agribusiness (November 16-20, 2020)

SERESSA2020, Porto Alegre, Brazil (December 1-4, 2020)

SERESSA combines academic, government, and industrial communities working in the area of radiation effects on embedded systems. Radiation effects are a significant concern for space and avionics systems, as well as for critical applications operating at ground level such as automotive, high energy facilities, medical or even banking. The school is based on lectures and exercises involving real case studies using the common tools of the domain. The intended audience includes both beginning and experienced researchers, engineers, and post-graduate students wishing to enhance their knowledge base in this rapidly evolving field. Topics covered by SERESSA include: radiation environment, spacecraft anomalies, single-event effects (SEE), total dose effects (TID), radiation effects in power systems, radiation effects in solar cells, architecture hardening in analog, and digital circuits and in memories, software hardening, effects in FPGAs, hardness assurance, rate prediction, radiation testing, laser testing and remote testing experiments. 

First SERESSA was organised in 2005, in the middle of the Amazon Jungle, Manaus, Brazil. Then, it moved around the world, being organised in Seville, Buenos Aires, Palm Beach, Takasaki, São José dos Campos, Toulouse, Ansan, Moscow, Bariloche, Puebla, Montreal, Munich, Nordwick and Seville. Now, in 2020, celebration of 15 years of SERESSA, it will be a fully Virtual Edition, from Porto Alegre, Brazil.

Authors from both modalities (students-competition and regular) will have the opportunity to present their contributions through a three-minute recorded talk + real-time slot for Q&A.

The first Electronic Design Automation School (EDAS2020) is an event dedicated to students and researchers in regions using Portuguese or Spanish languages (slides in English. but audio in Portuguese)

The EDAS aims to offer students a group of talks on key topics of electronic design automation for integrated circuits (IC) in modern and upcoming technologies, including current and future challenges faced by the industry and academia for implementing complex circuits and systems. 

The goal is to promote discussions on hot topics and cover fundamental algorithms, computational methods, and artificial intelligence (AI) techniques in the area so that the attendees could leverage their comprehension and capabilities while attracting new students and researchers to the right problems.

LASCAS 2021, Arequipa, Peru (February 2021)

LASCAS is the international symposium and flagship event of the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society in Latin America. Its twelfth edition will take place in Arequipa, Peru. Arequipa is located in South Peru and it is about 1 h by flight from Lima. Arequipa has a wonderful landscape and there are numerous points of interest in the Arequipa region. The Colca Canyon, twice as deep as the Grand Canyon in the United States, is situated in the province of Caylloma. The Cotahuasi Canyon is in the La Union Province. Colca Valley provides incredible closeup views of majestic Andean condors soaring in their natural habitat. Cotahuasi, at 3,535 metres, is thought to be the deepest canyon in the world. To the north near Andaguas lies the Valley of Volcanoes. Arequipa is also about 300 km from Titicaca Lake. The Monasterio of Santa Catalina is colonial building stands out among the crowded field of beautiful colonial architecture in Peru.
